On November 30, 2015, Porter White & Company released a Q3 2015 economic update for Birmingham, Ala. The update highlights state and local statistics, and serves as a precursor to the upcoming full-length Birmingham Area Economic Report. The full report will be published after regional and national statistics are made available. Similar to our Q2 2015 economic report, the Q3 update illustrates the fact that Birmingham’s economy is growing, however, both Birmingham and the state of Alabama have yet to fully recover from the recession.
The Birmingham Business Journal provided insights on the update in an article entitled, “Study shows local economy continues to improve.” In the piece, reporter Michael Seale noted that the Birmingham economy has experienced growth in all areas except for electricity sales.
