Recently, Porter, White & Company (PW&Co) published the Birmingham Area Economic Report, Q2 2015. In the report, PW&Co’s Michael Stone summarizes findings related to several key economic indicators including job growth, retail sales and enplanements.
Soon after the report was published, two writers at the Birmingham Business Journal explored the findings and crafted insights. In the first piece, BBJ writer Michael Seale noted that the Q2 findings illustrate the most significant positive growth for the Birmingham area economy since PW&Co restarted the quarterly reports in 2014.
In the second piece, BBJ writer Ryan Phillips briefly summarized the Birmingham-MSA trends and compared them to national trends. Of particular interest was the fact that retail sales in the Birmingham-MSA grew at a rate of 4.1 percent, while national retail sales increased by 3.6 percent.
PW&Co will continue to monitor economic trends in the Birmingham area and share findings through the quarterly economic report.
