Professional Background

Ross works alongside principals of the firm to provide M&A, valuation, business advisory, financial planning and asset management services. He has experience working with a diverse array of clients, including individual and institutional investors, middle market businesses, public institutions, and non-profits.

Ross’ valuation experience extends to assessing both minority and control interests for purposes such as gift and estate taxes, strategic planning, acquisitions, and fairness opinions, applying both fair market value and fair value standards when applicable. He has valued interests in private investment companies, marketable equity and fixed income securities, privately held real estate entities, and privately held companies. Industries in which he has valued business interests include business services, manufacturing, industrial supply, plumbing and heating, insurance, and technology.

Ross also assists businesses and non-profits with strategic initiatives and projects, helping decision makers and board members identify risks, create structure, and assess business viability.

Ross’ experience with PW&Co’s investment banking clients guides his handling on client matters within PW&Co’s investment management practice, where he assists clients with investment strategies, portfolio management, trading, financial planning, and cash management solutions. Ross applies his knowledge of valuation methodologies to portfolio management and trading, while his experience working with institutions on project analysis guides his understanding of investments in capital-intensive projects.

Ross joined Porter White in 2020 after graduating from Wofford College, where he received his B.A. in Finance with minors in Accounting and Government.

Representative Assignments

  • Advising a large, public institution with the investment of $50M mix of tax-exempt public debt and private capital according to regulatory constraints and project spend schedules. Securities used in the assignments included government-backed fixed income securities, including specialized securities state and local tax-exempt debt (SLGS).
  • Valuing the assets of a Grantor Retained Annuity Trust (GRAT)
  • Valuing a business for strategic/restructuring purposes
