Summary
PW&Co was retained as financial advisor by the City of Hueytown in 2022. In 2023, Hueytown was awarded a $400,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program to support the development of the City’s 330-acre nature preserve, the West Rock Mountain Nature Preserve. The preserve will have over 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, and parking lots for the two trailheads. With no other nature parks within a 10-mile radius of the city, the nature preserve addresses a vital need for recreational opportunities in the city and in the wider region.
PW&Co Role
In concert with an experienced planning team of landscape architects and civil engineers, PW&Co served as project coordinator during the grant application process. PW&Co worked closely with Hueytown City Council and the planning team to assess the feasibility of the project and to organize and prepare the grant application to increase the likelihood it would be successful. PW&Co also helps the city better understand how developments such as these impact and enhance the financial base of the city.
PW&Co’s municipal advisory services related to the debt issuance were provided through its affiliate, Porter, White & Company, Inc.
